What is obstructive sleep apnea
There are some sleep apnea disorders, from where obstructive sleep apnea is one of the most common respiratory disorders. That is when someone repeatedly stopped and began to breathe in sleep.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a condition in which your airway is blocked by something when you sleep. Because of blockage, a person’s diaphragm and chest muscles work harder to open the airway to pull air to the lungs. In such an episode, someone’s breath becomes superficial, or he can stop breathing for a while and then breathe again with a jerk or panting. Those who suffer from OSA may not be able to sleep well but they might not know that it happened with them.
This usually occurs when the muscles of the airway are more relaxed than they should, thus narrowing your throat. People wake up to open the airway and may not even remember doing it. In acute cases, it can occur several times in one hour. Obesity, mar from tonsils and even health problems such as endocrine disorders or heart failure can cause OSA.
