A civilian was killed and 23 people, including a police officer, was injured in a grenade explosion which was blown up by militants in Srinagar on Sunday. The explosion lasts around 4:20 a.m. In the commercial center of the busy Amira Lizard, who witnessed a large berilation of buyers from the flea market was founded on Sundays.
The preliminary report showed that militants threw grenades when people were busy buying on the market. One civilian, identified as Muhammad Aslam Makdhoomi from the Srinagar Nowhatta area suffered a flake injury and died at the nearest hospital. A girl also suffered a critical injury and was hospitalized, officials said.
CCTV footage
Deputy General Inspector (Dig), the Middle Kashmir range, Sujit Kumar said the police received CCTV recordings and some vital instructions. “It’s not a security hose when a policeman is also hurt. The steps will be taken to prevent attacks in busy places. We will not let it be a trend,” said Mr. Kumar.
The explosion left the Sunday market left behind. The area saw a similar grenade attack in October last year, which left civilians injured.
The police have asked civilians “to be alert and report activities suspected of thwarting the design of evil militants”.
Meanwhile, political parties have condemned the attack. “Conducting this coward attack. The J & K people have paid with their lives and unfortunately India and Pakistan do nothing to end the conflict and stop this bloodshed,” said the Democratic Party Mufti Mufti.
‘Deplorable attack’
Vice President of the National Conference Omar Abdullah called it a “sad attack”. “I condemn the attack with the most possible requirements,” he said.
A spokesman for the conference said the party was “shocked on very sad news about a grenade attack on a crowded market”. We unconditionally condemned cowardly and coward attacks where a civilian death while many injured. Violence in all forms and manifestations carry countless misery to people and only add to our collective suffering. The perpetrators of this attack must be accounted for and taken to court, “said the spokesman.
