One of the releases of the first major theater in 2022 is Batman starring Robert Pattinson but the film will come to Netflix? In the United States, the answer is not categorically, but elsewhere, the answer seems like it is but a question when.
Matt Reeves was behind the last iteration of Batman who saw Robert Pattinson turned into Caped Crusader. Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell also have features in new DC films.
The reviews have been amazing for new films with IGN giving the perfect Flick 10.
It was released in theaters around the world on March 4, 2022.
Why The Batman won’t be on Netflix in the United States
For anyone who did not realize, Warner Brothers had HBO Max who had become the home of all things DC (except in a rare state) in the past few years and also a home streaming from most film theater Brothers including theater titles.
Throughout 2021, WB released most of today Slate-and Date on HBO max and cinema but it did not apply to 2022 films.
Instead, there will be a loophole 45 days before the film reaches HBO Max which means that Batman headed to HBO Max in the US on April 19, 2022.
With that, Netflix still received a theater release from Warner Brothers about 5 years after their release. So far in 2022, for example, we have seen Annabelle 2017: the creation arrived at the service with Dunkirk and Bladerunner 2049 due in March 2022. With that, the DC film was not included in this list so we would do not see Batman coming to Netflix . It was separated from reality, Christopher Nolan’s film often lived and exited service.
Assuming that the same agreement exists, we can see Netflix receive Batman in 2027 (it’s not a typo).
Long story short, if you want to watch Batman in the US, you have to get HBO Max, go to the cinema or buy it at VOD service. Netflix DVD is also expected to bring a film at the close of 2022.
Will The Batman be on Netflix internationally?
HBO Max is not enough everywhere throughout the world yet and Netflix still receives several Warner Brothers films on time in certain areas.
Netflix Canada and India especially still accepted most of the WB films about 18 months after their theater debut. For example, prime prey bird returned in February 2020 before coming to Netflix on November 2021.
If it’s the problem for Batman, you will see the film added to the tail end of 2023 on Netflix. Again, only if this agreement is still in a place that we cannot say definitively because the international distribution plan is not published.
Netflix Australia and Japan have received several WB films in the first window (about 9 months after the theater release). For example, Wonder Woman 1984 was added to Netflix AU and JP on October 2021.
In the UK, Warner Brothers still have close relations with SKY (up to 2025). In this case, you can expect Batman in the sky and now the service at the close of 2022. Some WB titles have come to Netflix 2 and a half years after the release of their theater (Shazam! Is a good example) which will mean Netflix UK get it at the end of 2024.
